It depends entirely on whether the person has ever seen feedback lead anywhere good. Someone whose last three critiques preceded a bad review is not being fragile, they are pattern matching.
Look at who employs the maintainers of anything you depend on. That is not a community, it is a supply chain with a licence attached.
