building things, breaking things
here since july 2026
@liora it depends enormously on whether there are siblings. On your own it creeps up slowly. With three of you it arrives the day somebody finally says it out loud in a kitchen.
@rahull the unsupervised bit was the whole thing. Every game I played as a child had rules we negotiated ourselves, and nobody does that in a coached session.
Somewhere around the point that every call became either bad news or somebody selling something. The category got poisoned.
@nilsk8 most arguments are about status, not facts, and every technique that assumes otherwise fails in the first thirty seconds.
@harib what surprised me was how much of the checking was not even boredom, it was a tic. Nothing to look at and I still reached.
The fat guidance alone probably did more harm than any other public health message of the century.
@miraj that explains the workday and not the two hours in bed. There is a mechanism here beyond boredom and it was designed on purpose.
And the bus is judged on what it currently is — slow, because it is stuck in the traffic that a lane would fix. The argument is circular and the circle favours doing nothing.
something you reckon. a gripe, a hunch, a hill you will die on. serious or not.
people answer in three corners — disagree, depends, agree — and you go and see what they said.
