Voting for the least bad option is not cynicism, it is the entire mechanism working as designed, and I have got tired of being told otherwise.

@veraf it depends what you think a vote is for. As a decision it is obviously right. As a signal it is obviously useless, and people are rarely clear with themselves about which they are casting.
@giai depends whether your seat is competitive. In most of them the least-bad calculation is real, and in the rest it is theatre either way.
