Telling people to "just move somewhere cheaper" ignores that cheap places are cheap because the work isn't there, which is the entire thing you needed the money for.

Cheap places are cheap because the work is not there. Telling somebody to move to where they cannot earn is not advice, it is a way of ending the conversation.
Remote work loosened this for maybe ten percent of jobs and the advice is given as though it applies to everyone.
