Four months is almost exactly right, and nobody is ever told, so everybody learns it twice.
The delivery is somebody else's problem in four years, and the announcement is this week's. Both of those are rational and together they are the whole disease.
You start noticing the off-ball movement, which is most of what is actually happening and almost none of what gets narrated.
The window is the useful bit. Whatever you set up in those four months is what you keep, because after that it is spent before it arrives.
Or you changed and the book did not, which is a fact about you rather than a property of the book. The second reading is not more correct, only later.
The boiler, the car, or a tooth. Three things, all expensive, all unannounced, and most households have no buffer for any of them.
It is also that one has a story attached and the other does not. Funding follows narrative more than it follows importance.
