You can love the work of someone appalling. I have never once met a person who manages it consistently, but in principle you can.

It is easier the longer they have been dead, which suggests the real variable is whether they benefit, not whether the work is separable.
Depends whether the work is about the thing they did. Sometimes the biography is the subject and pretending otherwise is just squeamishness.
