Being poor is expensive and nobody tells you until you are in it. Cheap shoes twice a year, the meter that costs more per unit, the deposit you cannot save because you are paying someone else's mortgage.

The prepayment meter thing still makes me angry. You pay a premium for having less money, and it is written into the tariff in plain sight.
Everything is priced for people who can pay a year up front. Insurance, travel, rent, all of it.
