Term limits, everywhere, no exceptions. Nobody should be able to build a forty-year career out of a job that was meant to be temporary.

Term limits hand the institutional memory to lobbyists and civil servants, who have no limits at all. You have not removed the career, you have moved it somewhere unelected.
They hand power to whoever does not have a term limit — the civil service and the lobbyists. Every study of US states shows exactly that.
